Earlier this month Frank C., one of our youth from Atlanta, was invited by the White House to attend the My Brother’s Keeper Summit in North Carolina and to be a part of ESPN’s ‘The Undefeated’ student forum with President Obama. The event included 200 young men and women of color from across the country, among others, who discussed with the President topics related to current issues of race, sports, and achievement. It was a fruitful conversation and, as Frank states, “It inspired action.”

At the summit, Frank served as a leader and mentor, representing Juma and My Brother’s Keeper of Fulton County. According to Frank, “Each and every youth can pull themselves out of difficult situations if they have opportunities and mentors”.

Frank calls his participation in the forum “eye-opening” as he was able to meet youth from other parts of the country and ask the President questions that were graciously answered. The event also gave Frank the chance to meet inspiring Executives including, the CEO of My Brother’s Keeper and the CEO of Sprint among others.

Upon returning to Atlanta, Frank shared his wonderful experience with students at the high school where he mentors. Through action, Frank is embodying what he learned and is paying it forward; not only impacting his life but the lives of other young people in his community.
