We are excited to announce that Juma Seattle was recently selected as the recipient of the People’s Choice Award in Boeing Employee Credit Union (BECU)’s 2024 People Helping People Awards. BECU’s People Helping People Awards are an annual celebration of exceptional work within the communities served by BECU. These community-driven awards give BECU members a chance to nominate their favorite local nonprofit. A handful of those nominees are selected as finalists for whom the nominating member can pitch the nonprofit they stand for in a short video.
We are so honored that Seattle volunteer Jennifer Sorrells chose to nominate Juma for this award. Learn more about what inspired her in this video:
Juma Site Director Lainie Farmer and Development Manager Sarah Hill were honored to join Jennifer at the awards ceremony, where they were surprised and delighted to find that Juma was the People’s Choice winner. The award came with a $10,000 grant to continue our work building bridges to opportunity for Puget Sound youth. We are so grateful to Jennifer, BECU, and all of the voters who recognized Juma’s work and believe in our mission. It’s a privilege for us to have been selected from among so many deserving organizations. We look forward to carrying on our mission and making possible, possible for many more youth in BECU’s communities.
