Dear Juma Community,
I hope this message finds you well.
I’m writing to share important news about a leadership transition at Juma. As of July 1st, Adriane Armstrong will be stepping down as CEO and transitioning into a new role as Senior Advisor.
Over the past 14 years—eight of them as CEO—Adriane has led Juma with vision, purpose, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to our mission. Her leadership has left a profound and lasting impact on our staff, our organization, the broader sector, and most importantly, the more than 4,000 young people Juma has served during her tenure. We are deeply grateful for her service, her heart, and her tireless commitment.
To ensure a smooth transition, the Board of Directors has appointed Abdiel Cerrud as Interim CEO, effective July 1st. Abdiel brings a decade of experience at Juma, most recently serving as Chief Development Officer for the past two years. With a strong background in youth development, direct service, and fundraising, we are confident in Abdiel’s ability to lead the organization during this transition. He will also be supported by Adriane in her new advisory role.
The Board has formed a CEO Search Committee and is partnering with an executive recruitment firm to conduct a thorough search for Juma’s next permanent CEO.
We thank Adriane for her exceptional leadership and welcome Abdiel into this interim role with full confidence in his ability to steward the organization forward.
With gratitude,

Susan Hopkinson
