You know? I had a mentor when I was in high school. I know that without her in my life, I wouldn’t be where I am today, doing what I absolutely love to do. Juma gives this same experience to youth. They don’t only offer teens an opportunity to work, it’s also the mentorship that they provide, which includes fostering financial wellbeing at an early age. Hence, our terrific partnership.
It started in the 90’s, when we created individual development accounts and a matched savings program for some youth.. Citibank held the accounts and the relationship grew from there. We’ve supported Juma programs across various locations; we’ve had people on the board, a former board chair and also advisory roles. As a result, Citi Community Development was honored to receive the Community Impact Award several times.
25 years is a huge milestone and I look forward to the next 25, because Juma is creating a better future for all of us by supporting today’s youth.
