We Are On Our Way, But Our Youth Still Need You

Dear Juma Community,

I sincerely hope that this email finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. I speak for all of us at Juma Ventures when I say how full of awe and gratitude we are for your continued support of our mission and youth during these unpredictable times. Thanks to you, we’ve raised 60% of our goal of $150,000 in just under three weeks.

Our young people already experience barriers to their stability and potential for economic mobility, meaning that it is more crucial than ever that we keep them engaged during this time. We are adapting quickly to our new environment and will continue to provide a touchstone to vulnerable youth across the country.

Given the fluidity of the current situation, Juma Ventures has pivoted its programming to meet the needs of our youth:

  • We have digitized our programming to allow distance learning for our youth – We will use Google Hangouts to help our youth continue to build community, and brought our learning modules online using the GetYourEdge and Accenture platforms.

  • We are providing a minimum of two hours of virtual learning for each youth, every week, for the next five weeks.

  • Beyond online learning, our youth will engage in touchpoints with their program coordinators by phone, text, and email on a weekly basis.

  • Based on what you’ve contributed to date, over a five-week period, Juma Youth will be eligible for at least $50 per week for a total of $500 over the coming weeks.

  • These stipends will be available to 100% of our youth.

We are grateful to Sixth Street Partners for offering to match all donations up to $15,000. You can now double your impact and help young people continue earning and learning during this crisis. Please donate at juma.org or through FacebookShow our youth how strong their community can be by supporting them directly today.

During this formidable chapter, I want to reiterate my gratitude for each and every one of you. Our Juma supporters are an integral part of our Juma family, and you are represented in every success story that we lean on during these turbulent times. I feel uplifted by the outpouring of support from our donors, the passion and flexibility of our staff, and the resiliency of our youth. More than ever before, I believe that we are Stronger Together.

Stay well,

Adriane
