When stadium closures were announced in March, our first priority became finding ways to continue providing our young people with employment and on-the-job learning opportunities. After months of research and brainstorming, with creative and logistical contributions from all sectors of the Juma team, we were able to launch our first new venture in over a decade: the Juma Box.

Each Juma Box is filled with unique articles hand curated by our team and purchased from companies whose values we admire. Companies like d.stil, whose BPA free water bottles are designed in Seattle and help provide access to clean water via water.org, and Public Goods, a B-Corp whose focus on vegan, cruelty-free, and sustainable products makes their lotions, balms, and toners guilt-free as well as luxurious.

In addition to high quality, sustainable, and local products, Juma Boxes are expected to provide 450 hours of work and 112 shifts for our young people. Under the careful supervision of the Juma team, youth will be able to earn income and work in a safely socially distanced environment. 

We are also excited about the scalability of this venture and the potential opportunities it may bring to our young people, like the chance to learn new roles and increase responsibilities with time: from assembling, packaging and shipping, to purchasing, inventory management, customer service, and others. 

With three unique options to choose from, there is a Juma Box for every person on your list. The Box of Cheer features delicious seasonal treats like Gingerbread Granola from Lake Ellen Farms, cleverly disguised “Lumps of Coal” soap made with organic activated charcoal, and a beautiful Rumplestiltskin soy candle that will bring 45 hours of soothingly scented holiday cheer. The Box of Calm provides a dreamy at-home spa experience with luxurious mud masks, lotion, and toner from Public Goods.
