Abdiel Cerrud

Interim CEO

With over 20 years of experience in youth development, philanthropy, and nonprofit leadership, Abdiel Cerrud has been a key driver of Juma’s strategic growth and long-term sustainability. As Interim Chief Executive Officer, he provides mission-aligned leadership across the organization’s national operations—overseeing day-to-day management, aligning teams with strategic priorities, and ensuring organizational effectiveness and impact.

Prior to his appointment as Interim CEO in 2025, Abdiel served as Chief Development Officer, where he led a cross-functional fundraising team spanning four regional sites. In this role, he oversaw national fundraising, communications, and Board engagement strategies—significantly expanding the organization’s visibility and contributed revenue.

Over the course of his tenure, Abdiel has held several senior leadership positions at Juma, including Chief of Staff, Director of Development, and Associate Director of Institutional Giving. In these capacities, he drove regional revenue growth and led strategic initiatives including the launch of Juma’s first San Francisco Local Advisory Board, establishing a strong foundation for local engagement and long-term investment.

Before joining Juma, Abdiel served as Area Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Santa Rosa, California, where he launched five new school-based sites. He also served as Director of Literacy Initiatives in Portland, Oregon, where he scaled a multi-site literacy program and co-led a longitudinal research initiative in partnership with the University of Oregon.

Abdiel holds a Master’s in Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Portland State University.

He has received several honors, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Service to Youth Award and the Juma Ventures Newcomer Award. Known for his inclusive leadership and deep commitment to equity, Abdiel is passionate about building systems that expand opportunity for youth and communities of color.
