Director Institutional Giving

Tara is a non-profit professional with nearly 30 years of experience in the youth development, education and mental health arenas. Tara came to Juma in 2017 as the Director of Institutional Giving, overseeing grant fundraising and supervising the grants team across the agency’s six sites. In January 2019, Tara assumed the role of Chief Program and Grants Officer. In this position, Tara oversees grant-mandated activities, program design and development, learning and evaluation, and growth funding. Tara holds a Ph.D. in Education from UCLA and has worked as a direct service provider, program director, consultant, and in all aspects of fund development. Outside of work, Tara regularly trains for athletic events like triathlon and long-distance cycling, and is pursuing certification as a yoga teacher. Tara lives in Richmond and has a college-age son.
