main

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Juma San Francisco. Juma offers many ways for volunteers to actively engage with the mission of the organization. From hands-on service days at our stadium based social enterprises to in-office or remote professional development support, our goal is to ensure that all of our volunteers have an opportunity to best-leverage their skill set in their work with us.

To stay up to date and receive updates on these opportunities, please join our Volunteer Listserve → We will share updates several times throughout the year.

If you have any questions regarding opportunities available at Juma San Francisco, please contact Natalie Johnson, Community Engagement Coordinator at nataliej@juma.org

JumaDays at Oracle Park

During the San Francisco Giants baseball season at Oracle Park, there are a number of daytime games in which we rely on volunteer support to help us staff our social enterprise operations. During these days, volunteers step into the shoes of our youth and become vendors and baristas. All JumaDays run from 10:00am-4:00pm unless otherwise specified. In 2020, dates are available in April, May and September. This is a great volunteer opportunity for corporate and community groups of 10 people or more (25 volunteers max). Availability is on a first come, first serve basis.

Please note that JumaDays have limited youth interaction as they occur during day games when a majority of young people are in school gaining the training needed to advance their careers.

Career Tours & Panels, JumaLink

In line with our goal of helping young people explore the many career pathways available to them, throughout the year, Juma organizes a variety of career exploratory activities focused on in-demand fields.

JumaEXPLORES – Career tours are an opportunity for youth to visit a local company, hear firsthand from professionals who work there, learn about possible career pathways and get guidance on the training and education needed to succeed in the field. Leading up to the Career tour, Juma works closely with corporate team to coordinate a schedule and content that is impactful for both youth as well as our corporate volunteers.

JumaINSPIRES – Career panels are a Juma in-office opportunity for youth to interact with and learn from local professionals regarding their career trajectory. Topics discussed include: background, obstacles faced and how to overcome them, opportunities, best practices and how to be successful in the world of work.

JumaLINK, Juma’s annual networking event brings together both youth and local professionals from diverse fields and educational backgrounds. This networking event allows youth the opportunity to practice their networking skills, share business cards and gain insight on potential career and educational opportunities available to them.

Professional & Educational Development Support

Juma offers year round opportunities for volunteers to engage in the professional and educational development of our youth. These opportunities take on different forms and can include resume review and advice, college and scholarship essay review and advice, mock interview support and 1:1 mentoring. These opportunities occur year round, are based on youth need and can often occur remotely.
